[Overview]
SiteShift Migration is a free WordPress plugin I authored and published on WordPress.org. It packs an entire site (pages, posts, media, WooCommerce store, theme, plugins and settings) into a single file, then restores it on a new host or domain and rewrites every old URL to the new address, so non-technical owners can move a site themselves without a developer.
[What I built]
- [01]Three-step export, import and restore flow that lives inside the WordPress dashboard
- [02]No size limit: archives upload in small chunks and resume after a dropped connection
- [03]Automatic URL rewriting everywhere, including Elementor and other page-builder data
- [04]Safe by design: the source site is never touched and the new site only switches over once the copy succeeds
- [05]WP-CLI commands (wp siteshift export / import) for very large sites and automated workflows
